BCAL’s First Aid Level 1 course gives you the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide basic emergency life support in a variety of settings. Whether you’re caring for a loved one, assisting at a community event, or preparing for work or volunteering, this course ensures you’re ready to step up in an emergency.
This nationally accredited unit, HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support, is ideal for people who want to build or refresh foundational first aid skills. You’ll learn how to assess a situation, call for help, and apply appropriate treatment while waiting for professional medical assistance.
How to recognise and respond to a variety of medical emergencies
Basic principles of first aid and life support
How to manage unconscious casualties
How to provide CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) in accordance with current ARC (Australian Resuscitation Council) guidelines
Basic care for bleeding, burns, and shock
Legal and ethical considerations
HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
This unit incorporates HLTAID009 – Provide CPR
To successfully complete this course, participants must have the physical ability to perform 2 minutes of continuous CPR on the ground.
