These FREE, in-person workshops are designed to help community members build practical skills for more sustainable living. Held at locations across the shire, sessions cover topics including energy, food, gardening and the circular economy, with expert presenters sharing simple ways to create more sustainable and resilient homes and communities.
BCAL is proud to partner with Bass Coast Shire Council, Mycelia Energy Collective, community gardens and neighbourhood houses across the region to deliver the Living Lightly workshop series.

How Term Enrollment Works:

Term-based enrolment allows you to begin your studies at any point during the academic terms. This flexible approach offers multiple entry opportunities to start your educational journey.

Workshop Details

  • Duration: Approx. 90 minutes

  • Location: Community gardens (e.g., Coronet Bay, Wonthaggi, Phillip Island) and online

  • Cost: Free to attend, open to all community members

  • Delivery: Small, interactive groups with expert presenters

  • Hosted by: BCAL, Council, Renew, and garden groups

  • Organic Veggie Farming – Grow your own organic produce at home or in community gardens, saving money and supporting local food systems

  • Attracting Birds & Insects – Create a healthy garden ecosystem that benefits native wildlife

  • Recycle Refresh – Learn the ins and outs of the Bass Coast bin system to reduce contamination and waste
